This type of education was residential in nature with the "Shisyas" or students along with "Guru" or teacher in proximity within the same house or ashram.The students live in the same house irrespective of their social standings.The ancient Grukul education attained the most noticeable position in the Vedic period beginning about 1200 B.C.The most important subjects at that time were SANSKRIT LANGUAGE (earliest language ever known), elementary grammar along with phonology,elementary grammar and matrices.This kind of education was not given to the people of lower strata but it still influence the modern education learning.
